Day 2 with my new electric bike! Woo hoo! Today I set out again for Newport Beach, California via the Santa Ana River Trail. Not long after I entered the trail I got hit in the face with the spillover spray from this contraption, which is apparently power washing the electric lines beside the trail (guess I won’t need a shower now).
After my power wash I headed for the east side of the trail via this bridge, in an effort to avoid the road block I encountered yesterday on the west side.
Over the bridge and — what the — another road block!
County of Orange is definitely working overtime to keep this river trail in good shape. Back over the bridge, I returned to yesterday’s road block and found the nearby detour. Just a short hop over a very busy city street (short but still makes me VERY nervous to traverse the bike lane alongside speeding cars), and I was on the trail again.
Soon I was in sight of the ocean! Mission accomplished. :)
Up on Pacific Coast Highway there was no good camera shot without biking down the highway a ways (houses and concrete barriers blocking the view). Decided to get a beach shot on another day. It’s major June gloom today, anyway.
On the way back home, I passed this watering hole — several people apparently clambered over the partially downed fence and were fishing away. Didn’t know there was a mini-lake here!
Even though it was damp and cloudy for most of my outing, it was wonderful being outside today. My adventure only took an hour and ten minutes as I sped along on my Pedego, and I saw so many different birds, plants, and people!
Tomorrow we pack for Big Bear. By Monday I should have lots of shots of mountain biking spots to share!
